ENGINEER / PROGRAMMER

Description:
Gerhart has an immediate opening for a Programmer / Engineer to be based from our Allentown, PA Facility. This position revolves around the development and installation of small to medium size industrial control systems and material handling equipment.
Requirements:
Applicants must have 5+ years experience
programming and implementing industrial control
systems
[Visual Basic / Ladder Logic / HMI Software].
Mechanical design abilities and project
management skills are also required.
This is the perfect job for a hands on, figure it out,
jack of all trades type engineer.
Be available for on-call support after normal
working hours.
Overnight travel is rare but may be required
occasionally.
Excellent customer relations skills are essential.
General Duties:
Under general direction; develop and
implement code that provides desired solutions
and stays within system scope and objectives.
Devise simple operator interfaces to integrate
software and industrial hardware while considering
equipment limitations, form, and desired results.
Fully understand industrial instrumentation and
controls and how to integrate field devices with
programmable devices
Understand and Develop P&ID Drawings,
Electrical Schematics and Mechanical Layouts
Work with others to prepare estimates and
develop bills of material
Design, code, debug and document programs
and systems
Coordinate Delivery and Start-Up of new systems.
Troubleshoot existing systems.

INDUSTRIAL SCALE TECHNICIAN

Candidates Will Be Trained and Expected to:
Trouble shoot, install, maintain and calibrate
all types of Industrial Weighing Equipment
Electronically trouble shoot and repair
existing systems as well as trouble shoot
associated mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic
devices
Mechanically diagnose and repair vehicle-weighing
equipment [Truck Scales and Railroad Scales]
Understand how to integrate weighing equipment
with other process devices
Understand 120VAC wiring
Understand DC signal wiring
Accurately record data and maintain test reports
and data sheets
Prioritize events and switch focus rapidly
Work overtime during the week and be available for
on-call emergency service after normal working
hours and on weekends
Requirements:
Applicants must be computer literate
CDL license is a plus
Excellent customer relations skills are essential
Applicants must be able to communicate
effectively with engineering staff, production
personnel, vendors, and other technicians
Other favorable attributes include general knowledge in welding / fabricating, industrial electrical work, concrete foundation work, and PLCs.
